Fair point, I'm using pissed as an excuse.Apologies.
Still, Relayer for me is a masterpiece and my collection includes much punk and pre-punk as well. I understand your point about the 'pomp' of prog around that time but there are many albums that sadly became lost in the backlash that punk delivered.
There are some great suggestions here and several that are new to me that I will have a listen to.

Deserters Song. Spot on. It's one of those albums that reveals something different on every listen.

the album Spectrum by the Billy Cobham band is just astonishing musicianship
Billy Cobham , arguably worlds best drummer Lee Sklar - top session bassist Jan Hammer - famous keyboards player Tommy Bolin - guitar prodigy who died at 25 .

Strong Dreams - no need to get upset mate. Don't bother posting a thread like this if you can't deal with a bit of criticism. My point is that you're encouraging people to listen to Relayer, and I'm pointing out there are at least 3 or 4 better Yes albums, and I reckon most people like me who were fans of the band since the first album in '69 would agree. I just think it an odd choice because out of the whole prog rock canon there are dozens of better albums.
There was a good reason that pub rock, then Punk came along, and albums like Relayer had a lot to do with it.
p.s. Feel free to have a go at my choice.
